Dr.
Joseph C. Joyce,
Ph.D.,represents
the University of
Florida Institute
of Food and Agricultural
Sciences (IFAS)
as a premier core
facility in the
Treasure Coast Research
Park.
A highly trained
scientific manager,
he is Executive
Associate Vice President
for Agricultural
and Natural Resources
at the University
of Florida main
campus in Gainesville.
His prominence in
this role and ascent
to his current position
was earned by increasing
levels of responsibility
and achievement
leading the university’s
statewide scientific
research, education
and extension functions.
His experience in
all facets of its
operation includes
interim administrative
head of IFAS, dean
and associate dean.
It must be noted
IFAS includes all
of the Florida Agricultural
Experiment Stations,
the Florida Cooperative
Extension Service,
the College of Agricultural
and Life Sciences,
the School of Forest
Resources and Conservation,
and portions of
the College of Veterinary
Medicine.
Dr. Joyce is a
Florida native.
He was formerly
a U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers limnologist;
he served as chief
for the Corps’
nationwide Aquatic
Plant Control Operations
and as chief of
the National Resources
Management Section,
also for the Corps.
Throughout his career,
Joyce has consistently
devoted his time
to leadership and
governance for a
number of professional
organizations. He
retired his rank
as Brigadier General
with the U.S. Army
Reserves.
Joyce earned a
Ph.D. from the University
of Florida in 1982.
He holds both a
Bachelor and a Master
of Science degree
from the University
of Alabama.
