Peter J. Stoffella is Professor
and Center Director
for the University
of Florida Institute
of Food and Agricultural
Sciences Indian River
Research and Education
Center (UF/IFAS/IRREC).
The Center serves
as a premier core
facility in the Treasure
Coast Research Park.
Dr. Stoffella offers
the park nearly three
decades expertise
in administrative,
scientific research,
extension and education
production and management.
Under his leadership
are 11 faculty members
and more than 50 staff
members engaged in
agricultural research,
extension, and undergraduate
and graduate teaching
programs. Dr. Stoffella’s
collaborative research
interests are in the
areas of improving
and minimizing environmental
issues associated
with current commercial
vegetable and citrus
crop management and
production systems.
His research projects
have garnered more
than $4 million in
competitive grants
and contracts funded
by federal and state
institutions and organizations,
and several private
research companies.
A frequent invited
speaker at international
scientific conferences,
Dr. Stoffella travels
to the world’s
many agricultural
universities and regions
to observe production
operations and research
programs; these regions
include Central America
and South America,
Europe, Asia, the
Caribbean Islands,
Mexico, and Canada.
Since 2006, he has
served as Guest Professor
for Zhejiang University
in Hangzhou, China.
A prolific scientific
author, he has edited
four books, contributed
to eight book chapters,
and authored 152 refereed
journal articles and
119 non-refereed journal
articles.
Dr. Stoffella was
presented with a Ph.D.
in Vegetable Crops
from Cornell University.
He earned a Master
of Science in Horticulture
from Kansas State
University and a Bachelor
of Science in Horticulture
from Delaware Valley
College of Sciences
and Agriculture.
